Book Discussions on “The New Jim Crow” – Dec 16th & Jan 6th after coffee hour
This best seller describes the new face of racism in the U.S. based on mass incarcerations of young men of color and programs like “stop and frisk”. The author, Michelle Alexander, spoke to a packed house on this topic at the UUA’s last General Assembly last June in Phoenix. These discussions will lead up to a Weaving the Fabric of Diversity forum on the same topic on January 19th. St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Harlem is a co-sponsor of the forum.
