Funerals, Memorials and Celebrations of Life

“Our guests were awe-struck by the church…  They felt so comfortable, no matter their religious beliefs.  I was so proud to share it with them as a new member.  (Nicole) and the custodial staff anticipated our every need…” – Judy Boals

Celebration of Life Memorial Ceremony and Reception

After looking at many alternatives in and around downtown Brooklyn and lower Manhattan, First Unitarian turned out to be a wonderful venue for our Memorial/Celebration of Life for my spouse. We are an interfaith family (Catholic and Jewish) and were looking for a special spiritual but neutral location.

We had the ceremony and remembrances in the very beautiful Sanctuary which had wonderful acoustics supporting a community chorus my spouse had been a member of and which was accompanied by organ and piano music played by the Church’s Director of Music. It was followed by a lovely reception we had catered in the adjoining Chapel, an equally special space in a similar Gothic Revival style.  The Church’s Ceremonies Coordinator did an excellent job of coordinating all of the logistics and being there to make sure everything went smoothly and the Director of Music was highly professional, rehearsed with the chorus and played beautifully. It was very convenient for our guests, many of whom came from out of town and were unfamiliar with Brooklyn and who arrived early enough to walk around the beautiful neighborhood and take in some iconic NYC sights nearby.

My daughter and I, were so happy that we held our very special event at First Unitarian and now have so many beautiful memories of this occasion. – Anonymous
