Sustainability Work Group

The Sustainability Committee was formed to help us all live out our Seventh Principle as UUs: Respect for the interdependent web of existence of which we are all a part. We all want to leave our fragile ecosystem in the best shape possible for future generations, and this committee exists to translate that wish into concrete actions. We partner with the Facilities Committee to use greener technology in the church building, and are offering volunteer opportunities at local community gardens so that we can get closer to the earth and learn how to grow beautiful flowers and nutritious food. As we move forward, we hope to weave together all of the disparate strands of community outreach, worship practice, religious education, and greener living into the larger purpose of sound environmental stewardship.

We need to work harder on Climate Crisis Emergency. There is very little time to save habitable Earth and all life due to climate crisis caused by global warming due to the burning of fossil fuels and the farming of livestock–worldwide. It would be good if we could become a Green Sanctuary and have a very active effort throughout FUUCSB for climate justice. To save everything, we need EVERYONE, now. is the motto of the climate justice movement. The climate justice movement is now in EMERGENCY MODE, mobilizing to save the future for all life on our planet home.
