Hello First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn!

My name is Karen Madrone and I’m so excited to be your ministerial intern for the 2018-2019 congregational year.

I am a rising third year student at Union Theological Seminary. I have completed one Clinical Pastoral Education unit (Chaplaincy) at Mount Sinai and am currently completing a second unit through the Jewish Theological Seminary. I have also completed a field ed placement at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northern Westchester in Mount Kisco.

I love living in New York City with my wife, Michelle, and our dog, Letty. We moved here from Greensboro, North Carolina in August 2016 and we are making the most of our time in the city.

In Greensboro, I was an active member of my home congregation, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greensboro. I served in lay leadership roles as a Religious Education teacher, choir member, and board president. Through serving in leadership, I felt called to serve the larger Unitarian Universalist movement. I’m thrilled that serving as the ministerial intern at FUUB will be part of my path towards becoming a UU minister.

On August 26th I will be preaching in the FUUB chapel on the difference between serving, fixing, and helping. I look forward to meeting you then and in the following months as we learn together.

Yours in faith,

Karen
