“Say Yes” Concert April 4th

2013 March 23
by First U Bklyn

Thursday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary SAY YES! Brooklyn
Join the celebration when ActorCor presents “SAY YES!” a concert that interweaves diverse music and sacred texts from Islam, Judaism and Christianity. ActorCor was created by artistic director, Darren Lougée, five years ago when 30 actors came together to make a difference by recognizing the commonality of Jews, Christians and Muslims. The concert in Brooklyn is unique as it will feature the choir,
• Nassim al Saba from American University of Sharjah, UAE
• Choir of First Unitarian Congregational Society
• Cantor Sam Levine from Midwood Synagogue
• Cantor Nonie Schuster Donato from Temple Beth Emeth
• The Tone Chime Choir from Plymouth Church
SAY YES! Brooklyn brings together music of all three faiths sung in Hebrew, Latin, Arabic, English and Yiddish, everything from Purcell to Sufi chant, and Shabbat folk to Brooklyn Gospel. It will also be a perfect opportunity to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. who was assassinated 45 years ago in Memphis on April 4, 1968. Say yes to all that is good in religion. Just by listening, you become an instrument of change.
Suggested donation: $10.00 Students and children free.
