Dear Friends,

I am honored that you have chosen me to join your community and I can’t wait to begin in November! I have heard wonderful things about your congregation and its commitment to Religious Education, to caring for one another and building community. I am a life-long Unitarian Universalist and I bring a passion for UU history, theology, and religious education, as well as a love of working with children. I began my work as a UU religious educator with teenagers at the Tennessee Valley UU Church in Knoxville where I served for ten years while earning my Master’s Degree in Religious Studies and teaching World Religions at the University of Tennessee. I then moved to the Washington DC area where I have lived for the past seven years, serving as the Religious Educator at the Mt. Vernon Unitarian Church and the All Souls (Washington) Unitarian Church. I love story-telling, and I’m excited to share many wisdom stories for all ages during worship. My other passion is travel and service work. In visiting our Unitarian Partners in Transylvania and in the Khasi Hills of India, I’ve expanded my understanding of what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist.

I have a husband, James, and a grown daughter, Starling, who just turned 21. Starling will not be moving with us to Brooklyn because she is studying in Morocco this winter and preparing to enter graduate school next Fall, but I am sure she will come visit. James and I are looking forward to meeting all of you on November 10th!

In peace, Meagan
