Sabbath Sunday Coming to First Unitarian on January 11th

2015 January 8
by DoMC

The second Community Sabbath Sunday for this program year will take place on January 11th.  This month’s event is planned as an opportunity to exhale after the busyness of the holiday season.  The day will be begin at 10:15AM with a group meditation in the Library or quiet contemplation in the Sanctuary.  Following worship and coffee hour, participants will have an opportunity to join a family kirtan, play board games, go out to brunch, join a discussion group or participate in a group sing.  The afternoon will conclude with a shared  snack of baked goods and tea or coffee and a closing worship.  Click here for a complete schedule of Sabbath activities.

Sabbath Sundays came about as a response to Rev. Ana’s sermon, “Sabbath Practice as Political Resistance”.  This is a time for putting away the stresses and stressors of everyday life and taking time to appreciate the abundance of what we already have.

All are invited to participate.  Questions and comments may be directed to Garnett Losak (garnett@fuub.org).
