The Mother Theater Project Presents: Goddesses: Her Stories
The Mother Theater Project of Brooklyn’s First Unitarian Congregational Society will host a lecture “Goddesses: Her Stories” with story teller and Jungian scholar Kaye Lindauer. The lecture will be Sunday October 27th from 2:00 – 5:30 pm in the Chapel at First Unitarian on Pierrepont Street between Clinton and Monroe Place in Brooklyn Heights.
Goddess stories from different mythologies will be retold with commentary focusing on both the historical and the spiritual/psychological significance that these representatives of the divine feminine hold for us today. “The Divine Feminine is an energy from a spiritual source both within and without,” says Ms. Lindauer. “As a spiritual presence in the psyche, the Divine Feminine calls us to be greatly human. We must embrace the Divine Feminine so that we do not live a life too small for us.” An accomplished story teller and college professor Ms. Lindauer will draw from the poetry of Sappho, Dickinson, Mary Oliver, the Psalms, and others as well as from famous paintings.
The Mother Theater Project of First Unitarian is sponsoring this event in conjunction with their performance of “Mother Wove the Morning” by Carol Lynn Pearson, on October 24, 25, 26 at 7:30. “Our focus,” says producer and actor Dawn Marie Brekke, “is to bring the issue of feminine masculine balance to the forefront of our cultural awareness. The play and this lecture is an exciting leap into this discussion.”
