First U to Partner with Good Shepherd Services in Support of Families this Holiday Season

by DoMC

This year we have the opportunity to make Christmas wishes come true!

This year, we are going to be fulfilling the holiday wish lists of local families through Good Shepherd Services.  Good Shepherd Services works with children and youth in the foster care system, provides counseling and support to families in the shelter system, and supports women and children who are survivors of domestic violence.  More information on Good Shepherd Services can be found at: www.goodshepherds.org

If you choose to sponsor a family you will receive a short background and specific wish lists for each person, including clothing sizes if necessary.  You may purchase items from the wish list, or simply give the family a gift card from a list of recommended stores.  Homemade items and re-used items cannot be donated.  All donations must have original tags.

If you would like to support this project but cannot sponsor a whole family, consider joining with another individual or group to fulfill a wish list, or simply write a check! We will give all donations directly to Good Shepherd Services to support the great work they do in our community.

Gifts do not need to be wrapped individually.  We suggest that you put all the items into a large basket, bag or wrapped box.  Make sure to include a label or card with the family’s names on it.  You may include a holiday card or message of support with your first names on it.

Gifts will be collected during worship on December 15th.  (Or, you may drop off your donation in the office Monday-Thursday 12/9- 12/12. Please, do not bring your gift earlier or it may end up in Unifair!)

To Sign-up to help a family, please send an email to Becky Huffman (becky7676@gmail.com).  Please include your full name and the names of your family members who will participate and your phone and email.  If you prefer to write a check in support of Good Shepherd Families Services you may mail it to the office or drop it in the offertory basket on Sunday.
