First Unitarian, in conjunction with the Unitarian Universalist UN Office (UU–UNO), will be hosting justice forums each month October through May. The topics of these forums will focus on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) & sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) issues, which is in keeping with the spirit of this year’s church-wide social justice project, “Our Bodies, Our Spirits, Our Lives”.
This Sunday, Margaret Wolff, the Social Work Intern at the UU–UNO LGBT Program (www.uu–uno.org), will discuss Gender Identity and Expression, with a particular focus on Caster Semenya, whose gender was questioned after she won the World Championship in the 800m run in 2009 (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8213581.stm). Continental breakfast provided at 9:30am, forum begins at 10:00 am. If you have any questions, please contact Julie Bero at jnbero@gmail.com
