Connections Committee

Mission Statement

The First Unitarian Connections Committee works with the Director of Congregational Life to help newcomers connect deeply with the members, friends, and mission of the congregation.

Committee work includes, but is not limited to:

  • Connecting personally with visitors and newcomers
  • staffing the connections table during fellowship hour
  • organizing activities that bring newcomers into community
  • planning and organizing new member Sundays
  • honoring milestone membership anniversaries
  • facilitating affinity groups
  • leading Pathways to Membership programs

The committee meets monthly on-line and occasionally in person from September to June.

Meeting agendas include opening/chalice lighting words, a time for check-in, updates on the previous month’s activities, planning for future programs, and brainstorming ideas for fulfilling the committee’s mission.

A summer retreat to plan activities for the program year is encouraged.  Anyone who is interested in creating community and supporting a culture of welcome is encouraged to join us.
