Nursery/Toddlers (ages 0-2)

Age-appropriate baby and toddler care is available every Sunday. We provide an active, fun, and creative space for toddlers. The children have opportunities for structured learning through stories and songs, as well as plenty of time for free play.

Pre-Kindergarten (ages 3 and 4) – Chalice Children

Chalice Children experience the principles and values of Unitarian Universalism through imagination and creativity. This class includes stories, crafts, and music. It is an excellent way for young children to become accustomed to being in class on Sunday mornings and to prepare them for more formal Religious Education classes, which begin in Kindergarten.

Kindergarten / First Grade – Love Surrounds Us

At the core of our Unitarian Universalist community are our seven Principles. The Principles encompass the ingredients of a good, faith-filled life grounded in equality, freedom, peace, acceptance, truth, care, and love. This program explores these Principles in the context of the Beloved Community of family/home, school, and neighborhood.

Second / Third Grade – Moral Tales

Moral Tales provides children with the spiritual and ethical tools they need to make choices and take actions that reflect their Unitarian Universalist values. Each session has a central story in which participants meet real and fictional heroes and heroines who have displayed moral courage and spiritual greatness.

Fourth / Fifth Grades – Toolbox of Faith

Toolbox of Faith invites participants to reflect on the qualities of our Unitarian Universalist faith, such as integrity, courage, and love, as tools they can use in living their lives and building their own faith. Each of the 16 sessions uses a tool as a metaphor for an essential quality of our faith, such as reflection (a mirror), flexibility (duct tape), and justice (a flashlight).

Sixth / Seventh Grades – Building Bridges

Building Bridges is a World Religions learning program that broadens participants’ knowledge of humanity and strengthens their spiritual search. This exploration fosters participants’ positive outlook toward other faiths and their adherents.

Eighth / Ninth Grade – Coming of Age

As youth leave childhood and enter adolescence, we honor this transition with the Coming of Age program. Coming of Age is a yearlong curriculum that helps teens learn more about Unitarian Universalism and articulate their own beliefs. Participants explore theology, spirituality, and history. Each youth is paired with an adult mentor from the congregation. The program concludes with a Sunday-morning worship service featuring the youth sharing their personal belief statements (credo statements).

High School Youth Group (Grades 10, 11, &12)

The High School Youth meet each week after worship to discuss questions of faith, community, belonging, and identity. They participate in the life of the congregation through attending worship services and engaging in social action projects. The group goes on an annual service trip to West Virginia each summer.

Plans are underway for 4th- and 5th-grade Our Whole Lives (OWL) sexuality education.  Please contact Becky Huffman for more information.
