Sabbath Sunday

In 2013, with inspiration from Rev. Ana’s sermon on keeping the Sabbath holy, First Unitarian developed a program of regular Sabbath Sundays.  The all-day events, which start with pre-worship meditation and conclude at 3:00PM with a shared snack and closing worship, are meant to provide our members and friends with a mechanism to, in the words of Rev. Ana “Put away your work and phone and striving and errands for the day and enjoy the abundance of all that you already have, together with your community”.  While it is our hope that each of us will take time for a personal Sabbath every week, we plan four Community Sabbath Sundays each year.  Each Sabbath day includes opportunities for rest and relaxation, free play, meditation, Adult Religious Exploration, Yoga and more.  All are welcome to join us for worship and stay for an afternoon of community building.  All activities (and passivities) are optional.  We begin at 10AM for morning meditation, followed by worship, fellowship hour and concurrent activities.  For more information, contact Garnett Losak  (garnett@fuub.org).
